TSX OPENS HIGHER AS ENERGY, MINING STOCKS RISE

April 16 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened higher on Thursday led by gains in mining and energy stocks, with investors keeping an eye on developments in the Middle East for clues on when a peace deal could be reached. 

At 09:30 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX Composite Index .GSPTSE was up 0.2% at 34,267.68 points.
